Abstract

This study aims to (1) analyze the income of fishermen using fishing rods in Tapalang District, Mamuju Regency; (2) assess the feasibility of fishing businesses; and (3) identify factors related to fishermen's income. The study used a descriptive quantitative approach with a survey method of 40 respondents selected by saturated sampling (census). Data were analyzed using revenue-cost analysis, R/C Ratio business feasibility analysis, descriptive statistics, and comparative cross-tabulation with the help of Microsoft Excel. The results showed that the average net income of fishermen using fishing rods was Rp1,970,000 per month, with total revenue of Rp5,400,000 and total costs of Rp3,430,000 per month. The R/C Ratio value of 1.57 (greater than 1) indicates that fishing businesses using fishing rods are feasible and profitable. Comparative analysis shows that fishermen's income tends to be higher in groups with greater capital, more experience, more time at sea, and the use of longlines, while increasing the number of workers tends to decrease net income per fisherman.
